North Scotland

Braemaer Highland Gathering has been held since 1832 and annually attracts competitors and spectators from all over the World.   Royal Patronage was afforded to the Gathering in 1866 and Reigning monarchs have attended regularily since then.

The National Orienteering Centre is located at Glenmore Lodge. We offer a number of courses primarily targeted at teachers and orienteering club coaches. The National Orienteering Centre also runs coaching weekends for orienteers to improve their own skills.

Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve covers 98 hectares near Dunkeld.  From early April to late August, the star attraction at Loch of the Lowes is a pair of breeding ospreys, which nest just 150 metres from our hides.

Central Scotland

Central Scotland has a large number of outdoor activities based throughout this great region. They offer a wealth of activities to cater for all tastes ranging from National Parks and Golf Courses. You can choose from many activities such as Motor Museums or Play Centres for Children as well as Stately Homes or Petting Zoos.

Lamont City Farm is a vibrant community project located in Erskine, Renfrewshire, where you can meet a wide variety of domesticated animals, including sheep, goats, horses, ducks, hens, llamas and rabbits.

The Almond Valley Heritage Centre is home to many friendly farm animals and offers a programme of seasonal crafts, games and activities for children in unique outdoor play facilities and indoor play areas, with picnic areas throughout the site.  A wonderful day out for all the family in the heart of Scotland just outside Livingston, West Lothian.

For water sports lovers, why not try open boat canoeing (also known as Canadian canoeing) for a truly unique way to explore the beautiful fresh waters of some of Scotland’s most picturesque and characterful lochs.
