Cumbria and the Lake District

Create a day you will never forget at South Lakes Wild Animal Park in Dalton-in-Furness, just 20 minutes from Lake Windermere, where you can hand feed giraffes, penguins and kangaroos.

Visit the Yorkshire Dales and discover amazing wildlife, stunning landscapes and a vast cultural heritage. The area has been a designated National Park since 1954 and continues to attract thousands of visitors every year.

For domestic and exotic animals why not plan a visit to the Trotters Animal Farm in Keswick, which houses several hundred domestic and exotic animals, many in natural open enclosures. There are lively lemur troops, giant bison from the American plains, gibbons, zebra, deer, rare breed domestic animals, birds of prey, and a variety of reptiles.

Last but not least, your little ones will love a day out at Ducky’s Park Farm, where families and schools can enjoy themselves whilst learning about farming methods, or using  the play area with its two sections for the 0-2 year and the 3-12 year olds.

 

North Yorkshire

For a great family day out visit the Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo, home to over 1,000 animals, including Siberian Tigers, Grants Zebras, Bactrian Camels, Monkeys, Sea Lions, Reptiles, Humboldt Penguins, Meerkats, and of course the famous pink flamingos, the largest flock in the country.

For an amazing voyage beneath the waves, visit the Scarborough SEA LIFE and Marine Sanctuary, with its 150 different species of fish, underwater tunnel, resident otters, seals and penguins, regular talks and feeding demonstrations throughout the day, and much, much more to offer.

Visit The Birds of Prey & Conservation Centre at Sion Hill Hall, near Thirsk, for a fantastic day out for all the family. The Centre was set up to ensure that birds of prey would survive, and provides a unique opportunity to see these rare and beautiful birds.

Monk Park Farm is a Yorkshire children’s animals farm and visitor centre located in Thirsk, on the route towards the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast. It is ideal for school visits and educational farm visits.

With 5 acres to explore at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park you can feed friendly animals, have fun on the adventure trail, learn amazing wildlife facts, or simply relax in beautiful gardens whilst watching exotic birds. The Park re-opens at Easter 2013.

 

South Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster is the perfect destination for those interested in wild animals and conservation, families with kids, schools, groups of friends – a great day out for people of all ages!

Discover a wild family day out and make friends with creatures great and small at Sheffield’s Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre. Family friendly activities, demonstrations and events run throughout the year.

 

West Yorkshire

Tropical World (also known as Butterfly Gardens and Butterfly World) at Roundhay Park, Leeds is home to the largest collection of tropical plants outside Kew Gardens. Attractions also include a Tropical Island, a Butterfly House, the Amazon Tank, the Creature Corner, the Desert House, and much more.

For a friendly welcome visit the St Leonards Farm Park, an award winning farm in Esholt Village, Bradford, offering lots of activities for children. A perfect destination for a family day out.

 

East Yorkshire

Introduce your children to an exciting world of animals at Sewerby Zoo. Come and meet a whole variety of domestic and wild animals from various countries, such as the delightful small pygmy goats from Africa and llamas from South America.
